Verdantic celebrated its launch a couple of days ago, February 7, 2009. Although "verdantic" is an inorganic/made-up word, this blog has climbed its way to the top Google search result for the query: verdantic. There's no need for anyone to point out the obvious. Google bought blogger.com and Google thinks the searcher meant "verdant" instead. Alas; Ask, Yahoo!, Altavista and Dogpile did not yield any results. Not expressing sour grapes, but those are, in fact, inferior search engines. Nonetheless, we'll give them some time to catch on.

Congrats on the milestone. The real test will be when someone searches on "verdure" and this blog shows up first...

ReplyDeleteThe search engine algorithms are definitely interesting. My incredibly lame first Website attempt from 2005 (never edited since) pops up in first page under my name in Yahoo, but is buried or not existent elsewhere. I hadn't thought of the ownership angle before - duh.
